I'm a chef who doesn't worry about breaking the rules because I never learned any. No culinary school, line cook training, restaurant experience, or other chef credentials here. I tackle cooking like I do everything else, on my own tantalizing terms by mixing it up in the kitchen using spirits, spices, and fresh herbs combined with friends and a whole lot of fun!
For me, cooking is a seed that was planted when I was four years old and climbing up onto my grandma's counter to help her bake chocolate chip cookies. I used to scale up there when she wasn't looking, to steal butterscotch chips out of the "secret can" in the cabinet.
Then there was home-ec in 7th grade, where I discovered I preferred a whisk to a sewing needle, and tasting the goods rather than modeling them. The kitchen became more of a magnetic force after high school when I was cooking for my boyfriend and he claimed he was the better spaghetti maker. Not a chanceā¦he lost! Next came cake decorating. Fun, but required a level of patience non-existent in my DNA.
Food is a great communicator. It helps you remember and pay tribute to those that have moved on, especially the ones you cooked with and learned from.
This is a place for chefs who never want to stop learning. An environment where conversations and culinary ideas happen to help you understand and appreciate the art of pairing food, flavors, and spirits.
My blog is here to influence your daily culinary life and inspire you to make the best choices for you. Not based solely on what experts say, but to open up the edible playing field for you to gain the confidence to soar beyond just the traditional fare and launch into the infinite and intriguing realm of flavor pairing possibilities!
I love socializing with my awesome friends over delicious foods and spicy spirits. It's fascinating to develop and distribute culinary creations that weren't there before. Since I started swinging a spatula when I was four I figured it was time to globally explore this talent.

I was visiting VA Beach this Fall and tried one of your Maple Cream tarts after a discussion at the local library. Would you mind sharing the recipe with me? I shared one of your goodies with my daughter and I'd like to pass the recipe onto her also. Thank-you Nedra
