It's funny how you can dislike an individual flavor but when it's combined with other items it transforms into a glassful of deliciousness! Yes, it's Christmas in February :) I made these for tree decorating time and just didn't get around to posting in December.
I like almonds but not almond flavoring. I love eggnog but do not care for nutmeg. I know, it doesn't make much sense. And here's something else I cannot fully explain. I'm quite fond of Amaretto. Not because of the euphoria it can cause. While that is enjoyable, I'm talking about the taste. It's just a different kind of almond. Especially when it's stirred into vanilla ice cream along with Kahlua and heavy cream.
Same concept applies with nutmeg. I never use it in cooking. Never have understood the taste value of adding it to savory cream sauces...ick! But I love it in holiday homemade eggnog and that seasonal eggnog ice cream, which brings me to the 2nd milkshake creation. One caveat...eggnog must include whiskey, to cut the richness of course... okay and maybe for the kick :)
Ice cream is a liquidy blank canvas so give these a try or substitute your own adult beverage variations!
